What we do

Passionfruit is the platform built to redefine how Marketing work gets done in the AI century. We’ve raised $14m, now at Series A, from top VCs in Europe and the US (firstminute, FJ Labs, Playfair, Seaya) to change how people and Marketing departments operate — and we’re just getting started.

Our first product has been a marketing freelancer marketplace, and our customers include PepsiCo, Mars, Conagra, Wayfair, Speedo, ABinBev, HSBC, ADT, Empire Today, Inflection AI, Miro, MSCI, SAP, Plaid and hundreds more. 

In a nutshell we are creating a genuine and robust alternative to the traditional agency / FTE model, which some people like to call the Airbnb for Marketing talent.

Right now, 70% of freelancers are men over the age of 45. This is because they are the ones who typically have the relationships and Rolodexes to get consistent well paying work as a business of one. 

For the rising generation of workers, freelancing is a pipe dream or at best a hard slog. Even for the well connected that do “go freelance”, it’s an unpredictable life. Many try and end up having to return to full time work. 

Passionfruit makes that freelance career choice sustainable and rewarding for everyone who wants it, long term.

In doing so, we have a huge opportunity on the other side of our marketplaces: to change the way that businesses operate their Marketing departments. 

Today, these departments have two muscles they know: full time hiring and agencies. Both are broken— agencies are incredibly expensive, demand annual retainers and unless you’re paying the most or complaining the loudest, the work is not always great, meanwhile full time hiring is frozen for now and there is scar tissue around future hiring after mass layoffs in the last 3 years. 

Passionfruit, for businesses, exists to give them a third way to run talent in their teams: an agile talent layer which lets them plug and play specialist freelance marketing talent into their teams as and when they need them. This is both more efficient (teams are the size they need to be) and more impactful (teams have the correct skill sets they need).

Consistently, in our customer conversations we see this message resonate and, once they start using it, their usage of our platform scales massively. The next step we have to solve is how we have more of those first conversations by giving before we get. In other words, by providing the most value-rich events and community offering in the world for the Marketing industry, through which we can attract awareness, eyeballs and attendance from Marketers, which our Sales team can then turn into customers. 

What the job involves

  1. Harness your love and excitement for the Marketing industry to own and operate an events program which brings together senior Marketers across the US and the UK (we recently opened our new office at 276 Fifth Avenue, New York, New York!) in intimate, thoughtful and curated settings
  2. Identify prime customer personas, build relationships and drive people to consideration of Passionfruit’s freelance marketplace (with a team target of Marketing Qualified Leads)
  3. Appropriately map events to a media calendar/grid which ensures a consistent and thoughtful distribution of insights and nuggets; laid out in creative and unusual ways (working with our graphic design / illustration specialists) so that we build a media library / asset bank that is the best in all of B2B marketing
  4. Work hand in hand with the wider commercial (sales and customer success) operation to ensure that your efforts is driving team-wide success, accelerating deals in the middle of funnel as needed and expanding existing customer relationships
  5. As you progress in the role, continue to reimagine the community and events program, pushing it forward in ways that feel new, exciting and original - in line with your personal taste as to what Marketers are craving (we love people that continue to innovate and push the envelope as they see fit)

  • A natural convener of people; constantly finding ways to create new connections that will put Passionfruit at the epicentre of people’s minds and thinking
  • High charisma, energy and ownership: we want someone who asks for forgiveness, not permission!
  • Obsessed with the impact of their work, rather than the work itself - we see our Marketing department as a lead and revenue driver, not a nice-to-have brand building exercise
